Trusted: With global distribution exceeding a half-million units over the last six years, more enthusiasts chose Morimoto over any other aftermarket ballast in the world. By adopting everything that was good about the out-going design and tossing the rest out the window, the XB55 2.0 excels in every way.
Reliability: When two of the best names in ballasts get together to create something new, good things happen. The new XB is essentially a Hylux + Morimoto mash up, and we are proud to bring their new ballast baby to North America! Designed to last for 2500 hours and we're confident they will. The powerful AS15-G4 IC chip recognizes outside system faults such as a loose high voltage connection, and after one misfire will cut power rather than potentially self-destruct. The software is proprietary to this ballast alone.
Protected: The die-cast aluminum shell houses a 100% potted circuit board; eliminating any chance of moisture damage. The AMP SuperSeal three-pin connector from TE Connectivity between the igniter and the ballast ensures the safety of this crucial output.
Compact: Slim 18mm body will mount almost anywhere, and that's OK because they're fully sealed from the elements. There are four mounting points cast directly into their shell, no spare brackets to mess with.
Versatile: Since the igniter cord can be unplugged from the HID ballast computer, you can easily change from AMP to D2S or vice-versa (without the use of unreliable adapters, that is). Likewise, if an igniter does happen to go bad, it can easily be replaced.
Fast, Friendly and Efficient: Power hungry HID ballast replacements never work well with tricky CanBus systems, but the new Morimoto XB55 2.0 ballast consumes less than HALF of the start current than the previous model did. Far less than Denso, Mitsubishi, or FastBright which makes their ability to reach full intensity a more efficient process.
Modern: Like all modern OEM ballasts: the XB has relocated igniters far closer to the HID bulb. The lack of high voltage transmitted through wiring drastically reduces EMI/RFI (radio interference). Total system reliability is also improved by shielding the main circuit board from the static produced by these high voltage bursts on start up.
Functional Work of Art: Designed in California by Morimoto's engineer, Yoshi Ishida, the Morimoto XB55 2.0 HID Ballasts are just as good looking on the outside as they are well-engineered on the inside. Stainless Steel hardware. TechFlex braided insulation. Embossed circuitry on the shell. We most admire how the laser-engraved graphics on the rear incorporate the potting-ports into the design. All about the details!
Mature: The XB55 2.0 features countless advancements from the most popular OEM ballasts. In terms of modern headlight tech, High Intensity Discharge is now fully matured; and therefore the aftermarket gets the full benefit engineering progress in the OEM world. Time will tell, but we doubt there ever be an "XB 3.0" ballast from Morimoto. This could be the grand finale, folks!

Excellent + the 2-year warranty
by Aki LaCount
I accidentally bought this instead of the XB35 in a hurry to get it shipped before the weekend for my Subaru STi headlights (factory D2S HID projector) I acquired recently as the halogen projector was just not cutting it for my WRX. I already had the Xenarc XHB 6000K bulbs and was worried that this 55W may actually drive the color down to 4000K with yellowish hue like the old Philips bulb did but glad I actually went with the 55W. Yes, I'm very much aware I'll shorten the bulb's lifespan but the light is very much even and with the 55W, the beams go much wider with a crisp output. The bracket is nice since I can mount them in tight spot or if need be, use heavy duty zip ties to keep them in place. No issue with water or moisture getting in. The connector fitment is tight and feels like a quality product. The 2-year warranty from a US company is just easier to deal with as I've had bad ignitor in the past and TRS was always helpful so the support and service you get, you definitely get what you pay for. Sure, I could spend more and go with OEM but at the time this made the most sense so I'll stick with this for now until I need to upgrade or change my setup.
Morimoto XB55 Picture will not justify it!!!

Swapping out my OEM 35watt HID ballast to Morimoto True 50watt ballast with the xb3/5 Hid bulbs, the difference is day and night. No matter how much pictures out there on the Net that compare the 35watt hid vs 50watt , there is nothing like experience it in person! . No matter you got projector or reflector housing headlight 50watt Morimoto XB55 is the way to go.....
Here is the few things describe about the unit, ballast are slim, fell very very solid, the wiring are top of the line well made and my favorite parts of the unit is the new Orange! mounted bracket ... the Only thing that give me a hard time is the ignitor it a bit big :( ...... Oval all this the very best aftermarket HID you can buy period ..... oh one more thing can you include the old ballast mount bracket too....
Solid and small!

I couldn't see any difference between this ballast and OEM ballast except this one is giving me the power which the OEM ballast cant!. I used it for more than one year using D2S Osram CBI and the output was AMAZING. Highly recommended.
