INSTALLATION DOCUMENTS
Round Three: Based around the best performing Mini D2S projector to date, the Morimoto Mini D2S Stage III System features excellent performance at an accessible price. With all the parts options from their big brother bi-xenon projectors, but re-worked into a HID projector kit that's much easier to install; the Morimoto Mini D2S Projectors makes fog light performance more accessible to all.
Projector-Perfection: There are other projectors that produce brighter hot spots. There are other projectors that have unholy amounts of width, but no other option creates the perfect balance of width & hotspot lux (aka distance) quite like the 5.0. In order to create the ultimate weapon for driving in the dark, Morimoto baked in all of the best practices from a variety of well-respected OEM and aftermarket projectors. Their latest and greatest equates to the perfect all-around perfomer. While it's a big boost in the performance department, it's also clear they've paid attention to the details in the parts department too. New bulb holders & lock rings are icing on our projector pie!
Shrouds: Basically, they're the trim piece that adds the finishing touch to your new fog light retrofit. They cover the bi-xenon projector after it's installed to restore the factory-finished look inside the housings. With so many different shapes, sizes, and designs available; we really recommend picking one that suits the geometry inside of your fog lights, and also your personal preference on how they look.
HID Ballasts: Designed in California by Morimoto's engineer, Yoshi Ishida, the Morimoto XB 2.0 HID Ballasts are just as good looking on the outside as they are well-engineered on the inside. They are available in both 35w and 50w versions, use proprietary software by the pros at Hylux paired with packaging perfection from the masters at Morimoto. This is today's most modern iteration of a model that has sold more than half a million units since inception, and we don't think it can really get any better!
D2S HID Bulbs: Homegrown by Morimoto to out-perform any alternatives on the market when installed in projector-based fog lights--and it shows. We admit the latest generation XB HID bulbs are pretty impressive when compared to other bulbs, and even older Morimoto bulbs. At the heart of the XB bulbs is their perfectly-aligned 100% Philips quartz glass capsule that houses high quality halide salts from German-supplier Messer. In our annual lux comparison test, they produced nearly the same lumin Osity (intensity) as the industry benchmark Osram CBI bulbs at 5500K. No, you're not seeing things here, but yes you will be seeing everything at night.
Wire Harness: As one of the most important parts in any HID lighting upgrade; don't skimp out when it comes to your wiring. It doesn't matter how good your ballasts are. How good your bulbs are. If your harness is a piece of crap, when it gives out your fog lights are gonzo. Morimoto's harnesses are the best on the market and easily worth their premium price compared to cheaper alternatives. No matter which one is right for your application, the harness features triple-sealed central relay packs, 14ga stranded copper wiring, over-molded fittings, and plug-n-play functionality. This will ensure everything properly (and permanently) works with your vehicle's original in-cabin controls.
Optional Canbus Harnesses: Instead of a traditional relayed harness that draws power from the battery, Morimoto's Standalone Canbus harnesses use two individual sub-harnesses to keep a load on the factory wiring. Recommended for vehicles that recognize when a bulb is out, these contain a series of capacitors and resistors to trick the car into thinking nothing has changed and help you avoid annoying "bulb out" warnings. We generally recommend them for use on most modern European applications instead of normal harnesses since they do a great job at providing stable power to the ballasts and canceling bulb out warnings.
Optional LED Halos: Though LED halos may not be for everybody, if you're looking for the cleanest, most simple, most reliable setup, we highly recommend the Profile Performance Pivot Halos. Not only are they the brightest, most uniformly lit halos currently on the market, but they double as a switchback turn signal with your blinker circuit. The integrated controllers are extremely easy to setup with only three wires (white, amber, and ground) and allow you to run the white mode continuously until interrupted by the signal--at which point they will blink amber. Once the signal stops, the Pivot ring will automatically switch back to its pure white mode.
Optional Housing Sealant: Protection is priceless! When you're putting together a set of high-end fog lights, the last thing you want is moisture in 'em the first time it rains outside. RetroRubber is the most effective way to make sure the original seal is fully restored. For the small price, why anybody wouldn't prevent their new fog lights from fogging up is beyond us. It'll be the best twelve bucks you've ever spent.

I bought this kit to do an install (my first) on my 1999 Taurus SHO. When I recieved it I couldn't help but be impressed by the quality of the components that TRS had put together to make it such an easy retrofit. Every piece was top quality. Like I mentioned this was going to be my first retrofit, so I measured and measured again as I wanted to make sure I didn't mess this up (did I mention I am in Germany). I started on my install at around 3 in the afternoon and about 4 hours later I was completely done. I couldn't believe it, there was no way that it was that easy, and this had been something that I had put off because I thought it would be too difficult. Was it worth it, every pennies worth, the light output was everything I wanted and more. Thanks TRS for a great product.

I recently fitted this kit to my Patrol which was my first retro. The service was excellent and they couldn't have been more helpful. The freight was cheap and I received everything within a week to Australia (it takes longer from state to state here lol). The quality of the kit leaves all others I've seen for dead. The wiring loom is the best quality I've seen and basicly plug and play. There is no flickering and the lights warm up in seconds. I really cant say enough about these guys and there products.

I used this kit on my first retrofit on my 1997 Civic Hatchback and I was absolutely amazed how easy it was to do! Everything came in on a timely matter and in perfect condition. The light out put of this kit is simply AWESOME! And I goofed up on my order and forgot to change the harness to what I need. So I e-mail TRS and told them what happened and in no time they sent a reply and had a solution. Excellent customer service!

Thanks TRS for all you do and your ability to produce such a spot on product!

Love the lights

I have done 2 retrofits with this kit and love the lighting it provides. I now enjoy driving at night. I wish I could fit this set in my 94 Mustang, but had to use the H1 kit.

by Trevor Coffee
These projectors were recommended to me by Matt based on me wanting bi-xenon functionality and needing a projector that would fit in the small headlight housing of the BMW Z3. I am more than pleased with the outcome of my retrofit. These projectors were the perfect size and it looks like my car came off of the assembly line in Spartanburg, SC with them. Matt knows everything you have questions to, and I have never received better customer service elsewhere. If it was not for him, my ideas of a retrofit would have been extinguished. Thanks to him, I gathered enough information to do it right the first time, all at a great price. I cannot speak highly enough for TRS. It literally was a night and day difference.

by Daniel Sutton
This whole kit is of incredible quality. I ordered it with the 5Five ballasts and 50W 6000k bulbs. The ballasts feel almost solid, very heavy duty, and the included bracket is easily made to work with most applications. The projectors are fairly light, but of very good construction overall. I think the Locking nuts on the back could be a little bit better, but as long as you aren't an ape with them they wont break. The wiring harness was the biggest surprise out of the box for me as I was expecting something far cheaper with much smaller wires, but instead it was very thick wires and very durable and high quality parts! The only problem I had was with my shrouds, and Matt was quick to contact me based off of my not too nice review I made (lol sorry!) to help try and get it resolved. My friend is now interested in doing a retrofit to his Mazda and wants me to do the work for him, and I will definitely use this kit for his and buy it from this site. I do my business where companies actually care about their product and customers, and Matt has proven to me that it is worth coming back here over and over again. Great product and even greater company!
Unbelivable performance

I have Toyota Land Cruiser 100 VX, 2003 year made. After installation of this kit, lighting performance increased, no more painful driving at nights and while raining.
Thanks a lot for high end quality kit!!!
