Morimoto: Has always been our go-to-guys when it came to HID, and when they released their line of LED products, we had our doubts. Performance left a little to be desired compared to some of the more refined models on the market. BUT (and that's a big BUT) that has since changed with the new Morimoto X-VF (Virtual Filament) bulbs! While in all-honesty Morimoto didn't exactly nail it the first time around on the XB LED bulbs, what we have from them today is about as modern as it gets and much more in-line with the quality and performance we've all come to expect from the brand.
Instant: Beautiful, bright light. Nearly infinite life span. Great for signal, marker, brake, and tail lights. The new Morimoto X-VF LED bulbs are an instant upgrade in the looks and performance for the lighting on your car from bumper to bumper.
So What's new with Version Two? Whereas the now discontinued XB bulbs were really only designed to "look cool" and be "bright" - we all know the saying "power is nothing without control" and that was really the focus behind the new Morimoto X-VF bulbs. These 7443 LED bulbs utilize far more refined optics that distribute light in every direction, most notably improving the side and rear-ward spread. What that means for you? By making full use of all the facets in any turn/brake signal housing - The Morimoto X-VF are way brighter! (and they still look cool!)
Fade-On-Function: Morimoto's new fade-on function drivers are pretty unique too compared to any other bulbs on the market. Utilized on the switchback version of the Morimoto XV-F bulbs, the drivers gradually ramp up the intensity of the white when it kicks back on after the amber signal is turned off. A small detail, but a neat one none the less.
Ford and Toyota Vehicles: There are known issues with how the factory wiring functions using the Morimoto X-VF switchback bulbs. Because of these known issues, we cannot recommend these 7443 LED bulbs for Ford or Tacoma / Tundra vehicles at this time.
Make Contact: Thin wire contacts? CK? Non CK? All of that is so 2015! To ensure perfect contact at the base of the bulbs, Morimoto has spec'd fat boy (aka wide) contacts - which are much less likely to bend out of the way or break off. In addition, there is now NO NEED to worry whether you have a CK or Non-CK circuit - since the drivers are now universal. We think that in and of itself is an amazing convenience.
Can-bus: The Morimoto X-VF 7443 LED bulbs are can-bus friendly and should not cause "lamp out" errors in MOST applications. If however your vehicle requires more resistance, we recommend using the Morimoto HD Load Resistors which will instantly and safely resolve any issues there.
Protected: Heat management is crucial for reliability when it comes to LEDs. Using just six LED chips to produce peak output, the Morimoto X-VF LED generates less heat compared to other 7443 LED bulbs that sometimes use up to 48 chips. The CREE XB-D LEDs are mounted inside the lens, which sits atop a ribbed aluminum heat sink. Inside; an integrated thermal resistor reduces output as a secondary level of protection.
CREE LEDs: For more info on what's inside, you can download the CREE Data sheet on the emitters that Morimoto uses in the X-VF 7443 LED bulbs.

A solid LED bulb.
by Christopher Clark
I picked up a set of these during TRS's cyber Monday event to test out on my 04 STi tail lights. I have messed around with cheap LED's before and have never been impressed enough to make the switch over from a standard incandescent bulb. These however will be staying on the car.
The build quality is solid and as I tested them in various locations of the tail light, the connections made a solid contact every time. The bulbs have a nice look when mounted in the taillight housing. In the clear portions of the taillight, for my application that is the reverse and turn signal, these bulbs really stand out and improve the look of the overall housing even when they're off.
As far as lighting goes they do function as advertised. The XV-F bulb does light up the housing of my tail lights equally as bright as an incandescent. I was hoping it might be a little brighter than a normal bulb, but I am happy that it at least functions a well as a stock bulb which is more than can be said for any other LED replacement bulbs that I have tried.
Instant On & Works Great

I have a 2006 Scion tC, and this works great with my tail light housing. I was only expecting it to be as bright as stock, but with the design of the bulb it feels like could've been oem. Of course it is an led, so it turns instantly on/off. Great if you have a cylindrical housing.
Pretty looking and quality construction, but could be brighter
by Avery Horn
I bought these in switchback form to see if they're brighter than my current VLED switchbacks...they are not. My VLEDS (basic ones, not the Tritons) are brighter both in running white form and turning amber form. Maybe it's just the way my turn signal housings are (04 Acura TL).
Having said that, these are pretty looking lights. The construction is definitely high quality (look a lot nicer than the VLEDs I have) and the aluminum heat sinks are machined nicely. The white is definitely 5500k (VLEDs are 5000k and these are a slightly cooler white), and the amber is a nice deep amber, not the washed out color of some cheap LEDs. I can't say how they perform compared to the first gen XB switchbacks from TRS, but these are definitely a solid choice for the price. My only complaint is that I wish they were a bit brighter!
Quality, just wish they were brighter
by Brandon Anderson
Quality built product. Love how they look. Love the fading feature. Wish they were brighter. I switched from the Acme switch back bulbs to these. The acmes were super bright but they turned brown/bronze color on me, so I got these instead. I do like how the light is focused backwards towards the reflector. Amber color is pretty spot on. The white matches with my CBI bulbs.
Very high quality for the price. Wish it were brighter though.

Top notch craftsmanship. If anything, these are just a pretty thing to look at. High quality circuitry. The fade-in of the white led is beautiful. I had a bad connection off a relay which only supplied around 10 volts to the bulb and they didn't light up which I assume is programmed in to prevent damage. My only issue is the brightness. I can barely see the amber flasher during a sunny day. You have to know it's on before you notice it. It may just not work well with the reflector. Idk. You really only see the one forward facing led. I have some cheap amazon switchbacks in my tails for reverse/flasher function and the amber on those seems a little brighter, at least to me in broad daylight.
They work fantastically, but...

The base of the bulb was too fat to fit into the 7443 socket of my 2002 civic's headlights. I ended up taking a file to the bulb to shave them down a bit to fit into the socket. Aside from that little obstacle, they ended up sitting in the socket nicely and light up quite nicely. I definitely like the amber color over my former VLEDs ones, and the white did appear to be brighter than the VLEDs when I did a side-by-side comparison.
